How to Embed Fonts and Prevent Font Changes

Export a final PDF with fonts embedded, or convert text to outlines when your artwork workflow allows it. This stops missing fonts being replaced and changing line breaks or spacing.

๐Ÿ“„ For documents

  1. Use a PDF export option that embeds fonts.
  2. Remove comments and tracked changes.
  3. Open the exported PDF on another device.
  4. Compare headings, tables, symbols, page breaks and special characters with the source.

โœ๏ธ For vector branding artwork

  • Convert text to outlines, curves or paths before exporting AI or SVG files.
  • Keep a separate editable source file for your own future changes, because outlined text cannot be edited like normal type.
โš ๏ธ Warning: do not send an editable Word, presentation or design file and assume production will have the same fonts installed. We print the file as supplied.

๐Ÿ”ค If a font cannot be embedded

Use a licensed embeddable alternative or outline the final text.

โ“ Frequently asked questions
