Yes, you can buy a single sample, because Valenna does not impose a minimum order quantity. The standard way to test a product before a larger run is to order one correctly configured item as a paid sample.
Use the same finished size, paper, cover, page count, printing, binding, finish and artwork you plan for the larger order. If any of those change later, the result can change and you may need another sample.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Finished size and page order | Confirms the file was set up correctly |
| Paper and cover feel | Weight and finish are hard to judge from a screen |
| Printed colour and image quality | Screens show RGB, print uses CMYK |
| Binding, trimming and punch clearance | Wire fit and trim are physical results |
| Personalisation and spelling | Printed exactly as supplied |
Valenna sometimes provides a free sample to a previous customer who wants to introduce a new item, but this is discretionary and not guaranteed. Raise a ticket with the product, the intended quantity and the reason for the sample so it can be reviewed.
Yes. There is no minimum order quantity, so one item is enough. Where a product has its own construction-based minimum, such as glued deskpads at 30 units, order the wire-bound version from one unit to sample it. See minimum order quantities.
No. See ordering a cover-only colour proof.
