Screen and print colours are never identical, and colours can also vary between print runs depending on order size. Here is a straight explanation of both.
Screens show colour as light (RGB) and printing uses ink or toner (CMYK), so some shift is normal. Designing in CMYK gives the closest match. See screen colour vs printed colour.
Notebook interior papers (80gsm, 100 to 130gsm and others) share the same make, finish and coating. The only difference is thickness, so switching paper weight does not change how colours print.
| Order size | How it is printed |
|---|---|
| Under 25 units | Printed continuously in batches on standard printer settings, with no per-order colour calibration |
| 25 units or more | Printed individually: the file is uploaded, sample sheets are printed and the printers are calibrated to get as close to the design's true colours as possible before the full run |
For bulk runs, sample pages showing the colour settings are sent for confirmation before the full run prints.
Cover materials have their own finishes and coatings, so colour can vary between cover options even on the same equipment. That is a property of the material, not something adjustable in printing.
Not for interior pages. Weight alone does not change the colour output.
