Why Die-Cut Stickers Have a White Border, and Can It Be Changed? | Valenna

Why Do Die-Cut Stickers Have a White Border, and Can It Be Removed?

We add about 2 to 4 mm of white padding around custom die-cut artwork by default. It gives the cutting process a practical tolerance and stops the blade cutting into important parts of the design.

⚪ Border options

ResultWhat to do
Standard white borderNothing. We add it
Coloured borderAdd the HEX colour code to the order notes
BorderlessExtend a solid outer colour about 2 to 4 mm beyond the intended edge as bleed
Narrower or widerAsk us before ordering
📝 Note: any change from the standard border depends on the shape, artwork, material and finish, and must be confirmed before production. Artwork meant to print to the cut edge needs colour extending beyond the cut path.

📁 How to supply the design

  • Upload each sticker as a separate PNG or SVG, with a transparent background where possible.
  • Do not add your own cutline, white outline or shaded background unless we specifically ask.
  • Keep important details away from the outer edge.

We arrange the artwork and prepare the machine cut paths. See die-cut sticker artwork requirements.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can the border be removed completely?

A borderless result is possible with bleed, but ask us first so it can be confirmed for your artwork.
